About TRTP®
What is The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP)?
TRTP® (The Richards Trauma Process) is a structured, trauma-focused therapeutic approach developed by Judith Richards. It is designed to help people move beyond the lasting effects of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and related emotional challenges in a safe and supportive way. Unlike some traditional therapies, TRTP® does not require you to revisit or discuss distressing experiences in detail repeatedly. Every therapeutic journey is tailored to the individual to help you achieve lasting emotional well-being.
How does TRTP differ from other therapeutic approaches?
Every therapeutic approach has its own philosophy and methods. TRTP® follows a structured three-step process that focuses on helping resolve the effects of unresolved trauma. TRTP® does not require detailed discussion or repeated retelling of distressing experiences. During your complimentary initial consultation, we'll discuss your circumstances and whether TRTP® is right for you.
Will I need to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. TRTP® does not require you to provide a detailed verbal account or repeatedly retell traumatic experiences. Instead, therapy follows a structured process designed to address the effects of unresolved trauma. We'll explain exactly what to expect during your complimentary initial consultation.
How many sessions does TRTP involve?
The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP®) is typically delivered as a structured three-session program, with sessions usually scheduled about one week apart. This allows time to reflect on and integrate each stage.
A follow-up review session is generally held one month after the program is completed. Your practitioner will explain the full therapy process and schedule during your complimentary initial consultation.
Is TRTP suitable for everyone?
No. Every person and every situation is unique. During your complimentary initial consultation, we'll discuss your circumstances, answer your questions, and help determine whether The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP®) is right for you.
Can TRTP be provided online?
Yes. The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP®) can be delivered through secure online video sessions so that you can participate from the comfort and privacy of your home. We'll explain how online sessions work during your complimentary initial consultation.
What evidence supports TRTP?
Research into The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP®) is ongoing. In 2026, the first peer-reviewed feasibility study of TRTP® was published.
If you have questions about the current evidence or whether TRTP® is right for you, we'll be happy to discuss them during your complimentary initial consultation.
